The day, August 10th, officially. Moving in approximately 10 days. Oh crap! That seems so much shorter when I type it out.
Can it really be only 10 more days? Well 11 if you count actual move date, the 21st. My TO-DO List on the fridge is getting longer and longer (but fear not, I am getting through the list efficiently, mostly anyway).
Have not yet scheduled any movers, as we are still weighing our options. Should we hire the movers and spend the extra dough and move everything ourselves via UHAUL and save $?
There are pros and cons to each. The biggest pro for driving the UHAUL is the road trip itself. I don't enjoy driving, quite the opposite. But, I do enjoy being a passenger while someone else drives. HA! Ha!
10 Days. I'm not feeling too stressed yet. Ask me on Wednesday.
I must approach the next few days like the pragmatic housewife that I am. Must make a decision between the UHAUL vs. MOVERS conundrum. By...Wednesday?
Oy vey!

House Hunting...
So we might not get the bright and white filled with light living quarters we were going for... or at least wanted to go for.
However, the husband did look at a beautiful home yesterday in the Miracle Mile neighborhood within walking distance to the Farmer's Market and the Grove shopping center.
Another 1920s home. (We live in a 1926 bungalow right now...) The difference with the L.A. 1920s home is that it's very art deco-ish and retains all its original tile and wallpaper in the bathrooms. It's a bit loud and obnoxious, but I like it. Has sort of teal Morrocon tiles on the floor and this busy floral print wall that looks straight out of Anthropologie.
I say we keep looking though, but so far this is the #1 contender.

Packing and packing...
Oh goodness, I don't even feel like I've made much of a dent in the packing although I think I have over 25 boxes packed now. If I count them I might get depressed though. Packing is tough work but strangely...I kind of like it. HAHA.
It's a bit calming wrapping things, making them fit in the boxes. It's like Tetris.
Since we're downsizing in L.A. I've packed mostly everything we are absolutely going to take. I will be getting rid of all of my NYLON magazines, Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire and probably TEEN Vogue. The only magazines I'm keeping are my Domino and Blueprint magazines. Oh and all the foreign ones and vintage ones Ive collected over the years.
*sigh* And it seems like there is so much left to do.
I'm making a huge mess as a I pack though, which is probably why it feels as if there is so much more to pack! I'm surrounded by nonsense clutter!
Trudging along... 2.5 weeks until the move... myabe 3 weeks? I think I'm making good progress.
Posting some clean home pictures to keep me motivated... HAHA.

Ahhh aren't these so peaceful, light and bright? This is the look we're going for when we move to the West Coast... clean lines, lots of white space... Ooo I'm motivated! Back to packing!

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland... YES! YES!
Oh my gosh, just saw these pictures posted on comingsoon.net and I am so frickin excited I could do cartwheels!
The costume design looks AMAZING and the art, the setting... HOLY COW this is EXACTLY as I pictured Lewis Carroll's book! Quirky, colorful, a little dark, crazy, wonderful!!!
Mia Wasikoska will be Alice. I haven't seen her in anything and there are only a few pictures of her IMDB... it will be interesting to see how she is transformed. *edit* Found this scan of her in Disney-Twenty-Three magazine...

The cast in general seems perfect for the roles they will play. Alan Rickman as the 'The Caterpillar' OMG with that droning voice of his... so perfect!
Release date... March 5th, 2010... oooooo, so far away!

A slight annoyance
This day has been a little vexing perhaps? I don't know, I've been feeling restless. It's nearly 2 AM.
I have an enormous bug bite on one arm and it's swelling up and grossing me out. Randomly a red translucent looking insect bit me a couple days ago and it's still itching! That jerk.
Seoul Gardens was closed and we were looking so forward to chowing down on Korean food. *sigh* We got sushi instead. Nice, but not the same, especially when you don't eat all day so you have room in your belly for yummy banchan, bulgogi, and samgipsal.
Officially disappointed.
J is watching a zombie movie and all the CHOMP CHOMP and screaming is stressing me out. I need to wind down and start getting to sleep earlier. Everyday this week I've been dragging myself to bed around 3:30 AM and waking up at 8 or 9.
Warm milk perhaps? How do you get yourself to sleep?
